EUREKA (KIEM) – The winter weather is rapidly approaching. Starting next week, low cost firewood vouchers will be sold over the Humboldt Senior Resource Center.
Anyone over the age of fifty-five or living with low to moderate income is eligible. The vouchers range between $100 to $150 dollars, depending on the household size and income.
Last year, Humboldt Senior Resource Center sold over 800 cords firewood. This year, the organization says they’re on track to selling at least 1000.
Manager of Nutrition and Activities Natasha Romo says, this program is necessary for the older folks who rely on firewood as a source of heat.
Vouchers will be available at the Humboldt Senior Resource Center at 1910 Washington Street until they are sold out.
