Recology, City of Eureka, and Zero Waste Humboldt Hold Open House

Samoa, Ca. (KIEM) — Sunday, Recology Humboldt, the City of Eureka, and Zero Waste Humboldt partnered up for an open house to give community members an opportunity to learn what it takes to go zero waste.

Down at Recology Humboldt in Samoa, more than 100 people were able to experience the waste stream and challenges of recycling up close as they toured the facility. The morning kicked off with a free pancake breakfast followed by presentations on how community members can do their part to reduce waste here on the North Coast.

Those in attendance were also given the opportunity to give their input on Eureka’s zero waste action plan that is currently in the works. There were also crafts and other sustainable activities for the kids.

Sunday’s event was all about getting people involved in the journey to achieving zero waste here in Humboldt County. For more information on the city’s zero waste action plan or how you can help reduce waste, you can visit gozeroeureka.org.
