Hospital Workers to Strike St. Joseph Eureka

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – Humboldt County hospital workers will strike Providence St. Joseph Hospitals next week.

Caregivers part of the National Union of Healthcare Workers will walk picket lines on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka.

The health care workers are seeking better staffing at their at their facilities.

The company is also seeking to cut health benefits and reduce vacation time for the workers.

In retaliation for the one day strike, St. Joseph Eureka and Redwood Memorial Hospital will lock out striking workers for four days following the strike.

Workers will also strike at two Providence St. Joseph Hospitals in the Bay Area and picket at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
