KNEELAND, CA (KIEM)-North Coast residents might have seen smoke coming from Kneeland on Monday but there was no need to worry, as it was for training.
The Humboldt and Del Norte Cal Fire units conducted a prescribed burn and burned around 140 acres of grass and brush.
The location was six miles south-east of Kneeland.
Cal Fire said the burn exercise helps enhance the health of native plants, protects oak woodland habitat for animals and aids in the reduction of hazardous fire fuels.
