Suspicious Devices Found at Mad River

MAD RIVER COUNTY PARK, Ca. (KIEM) – Two beach-goers found two suspicious devices and one ignited.

Two beach-goers found the devices around 10:50 on Thursday, Nov. 21 about a half mile north of Mad River Beach County Park.

They picked up one of the devices thinking it was trash, and when they placed it back on the ground, it ignited.

The beach-goers buried the second device and called law enforcement.

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Explosive Ordnance Team responded. When they arrive on site, E.O.D. deputies unearthed the second device, and rendered it safe.

The case is under investigation and anyone with additional information is to contact Humboldt County Sheriff’s.
