Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — Christmas is just three weeks away, and people are rushing out to find the perfect tree for their home. Some areas of the country are experiencing a tree supply shortage, including local tree lots here on the North Coast.

Damon and Kim’s Christmas tree lot has been a Eureka staple for the last two decades. The husband and wife started the lot as a way to earn a little extra money during the winter months. Since then, it’s become a family tradition. The couple’s son works on the lot, and even the family dog is there to help out.

All the trees on the lot come from Salem, Oregon. According to the National Christmas Tree Association, the state has fewer trees to offer this year than in years past. That is having an effect on Damon and Kim this holiday season.

Despite the shortage, they’re still open for business. They love interacting with customers and building relationships with the community year after year.

If you haven’t had a chance to get your tree yet, the lot is open every day from 8 am to 9 pm on the corner of 3rd and T Streets leading up to Christmas.
