EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM)- Wednesday Nights are Family night at the Community Blood Bank in Eureka. This is the season of giving so if you are able to do so, you are encouraged to donate blood. It only takes 6 easy steps and you’ll feel so great knowing your donation helped save a life.

If you’re curious about blood donation here are the 6 easy steps to follow.

Step 1. Finding a blood drive- you can go to norther California’s community blood bank website at www.nccbb.org for blood center hours.

Step 2. Registration-where they will ask you for your donor I.D. or photo I.D.

Step 3. A donor history questionnaire- this ensures the safety of your blood supply.

Step 4. A screening interview is done which clarifies anything from the questionnaire and a check of your blood pressure, pulse and the amount of iron in your blood.

Step 5. Donation time. A donation only takes 5 to 10 minutes in the chair then it’s time to refresh with cookies, juice and relaxation before heading out.
