CIF to make final decision on site of State Bowl game between Del Norte-El Monte

CRESCENT CITY, CA -The big question surrounding high school football this week is where will Del Norte and El Monte meet in the 5AA State Championship?

Mike Whalen Field in Crescent City is the current site but the CIF has concerns over field conditions. Wet weather is expected over the next several days.

As of now, the field is painted and ready to go but CIF officials will have the final say.  That decision is expected by Thursday.

If the game is moved, it will be played at Humboldt State’s Redwood Bowl. St. Bernard’s is also hosting a state bowl game Saturday at Redwood Bowl so Del Norte would have to play earlier in the day.
