Arcata City Elects New Mayor and Vice-Mayor

ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM) – The city of Arcata elects a new Mayor and Vice-Mayor.

In a special meeting on Thursday, Dec. 12, the Arcata City Council elected current Vice-Mayor Michael Winkler to be the new mayor.

The council also selected councilmember Paul Pitino to be Vice-Mayor.

The Arcata City Council selects the Mayor and Vice-Mayor annually during a special meeting held every December according to the City’s Municipal Code.

The mayor is required to preside at council meetings, represent the council at community events, and perform other ministerial duties.

Mayor Winkler will preside on Wednesday, Dec. 18 over his first regular Arcata City Council Meeting.
