Police identify victim in fatal hit-and-run crash

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM)-The victim of a fatal hit-and-run has been identified by police but the driver is still at large.

Just before 8:30 Sunday evening, 36-year-old Ashley Madonia of Eureka was struck and killed by a vehicle that immediately fled the scene.

Based on an initial investigation, police say Madonia was crossing Broadway outside of the crosswalk just south of 14th street.

According to witnesses, it’s possible that two vehicles hit Madonia. The suspect vehicles are described as a white lifted Chevy Silverado and a grey or silver four-door sedan.
