Two People Die in Fatal Collision

SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT, Ca. (KIEM) – Two people are dead from a two vehicle collision on the 101 in Southern Humboldt.

South of Benbow Dr. around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 a white sedan traveling northbound when it crossed into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a grey hatchback traveling northbound.

Both drivers succumbed to their injuries, and were pronounced dead at the scene. It’s reported the driver of the white sedan was not wearing a seat belt.

The collision left the vehicles blocking both southbound lanes.

North and southbound traffic is being diverted onto the Benbow Dr. off ramps.

Law enforcement are investigating the cause of the collision.
