Christmas Tree House Fire Dangers

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM)- The new year is here and you may still be enjoying what’s left of the holidays, but you may want to ditch your Christmas tree.

The National Fire Protection Association is reminding those who may still have their Christmas tree to remove it from their house.

If you’re having a hard time parting from it, here’s a fact that may motivate you: nearly one-third of U.S. home fires that begin with Christmas trees happens during the first month of the year.

NFPA reports that on average, one in every 52 home fires that began with a Christmas tree resulted in a death.
