Pinning ceremony for Fortuna’s newest officer

FORTUNA, Ca. (KIEM)- A pinning ceremony was held on January 2 for Fortuna’s newest police officer.

Silas Grisby was joined by his wife Kristina at city hall where she pinned on his badge. 

Grisby didn’t have to come far to the Friendly City, he previously worked with the Ferndale police department and is a graduate of the College of the Redwoods police academy.

Grisby was sworn-in back on November 25 and has had a long-time interest in law enforcement.

While on the job, Grisby needs to complete the mandatory 16-week field training period required by all Fortuna police officers.

Two new officers will start the police academy next week and upon graduation will join the Fortuna police department.
