Eureka man arrested after attacking victim with machete

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM)-A Eureka man is arrested after police say he struck a victim with a machete. Just before 10 Friday night, Eureka police responded to a bar on the 1500 block of Fifth Street.

The suspect, 39-year-old Phelix Roby, allegedly struck the victim with a machete after being asked to leave the bar, causing moderate injuries. The victim followed Roby down the street and punched him in the face.

They were both located by officers at a gas station. After a brief struggle, Roby was taken into custody.  He was transported to the hospital for his injuries and then booked into jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and probation violation.

The victim sustained moderate injuries and was treated at the hospital.
