Suspicious Package Found in McKinleyville, Determined To Be No Threat

McKinleyville, Ca. (KIEM)– The Humboldt County Sherriff Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team investigates a suspicious package in McKinleyville. 

Shortly after 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, deputies responded to a package left in a white plastic bag at a stop sign at Central Avenue and Johnson Lane.

Central Avenue between the airport and grange was closed. Local residents were advised by HCSO to stay inside while deputies investigated the contents of the package. The deputies x-rayed the package using an EOD robot.

According to officials, no explosive items were found and the road was re-opened shortly after 4 p.m.

The Sherriff’s Office would like to remind the public that if you see something suspicious in your neighborhood, do not touch or move it, but contact your local law enforcement.
