Six Rivers National Forest Deploys Two Firefighters to Assist in Australia Wildfires

EUREKA (KIEM) – Six Rivers National Forest is helping to battle the raging wildfires that continue to wreak havoc out in Australia.

Two Six Rivers National Forest firefighters have been deployed and are joining over 100 federal firefighters in battling the flames. Earlier this week, Southern California sent dozens of their own firefighters. The firefighters are expected to be overseas for about a month.

Right now, the dozens of fires continues to burn on both of Australia’s coasts. The fires are threatening wildlife, lives, and property.

The Forest Service says, they submitted a list of more available resources to help fight the fires.

At last check, Cal Fire’s Humboldt- Del Norte Unit has not sent out any resources to Australia. But Cal Fire says, they are ready to assist when needed.
