Dr. Baird Retires from DHHS after 7 years

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM)- After years with the county and working to making health care better here in Humboldt doctor Donald Baird is retiring from DHHS. Doctor Baird spent 7 years with DHHS. He served as a physician and health officer with the county.

At Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, the board recognized his efforts and his time in the health field. Baird said that some of his biggest accomplishments include: building a team of communicable disease experts to help combat STDs here in the county. Baird even stepped up during the public power shutoffs, but Baird says that there’s still health care issues that face the community.

Doctor Baird says: they’ve already selected his replacement. What’s next for Doctor Baird? He plans to work part time at the open door clinic in Ferndale and travel the world.
