Big Brothers Big Sisters Celebrate National Mentoring Month

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM)- Communities across the country- including Arcata, Eureka, and Fortuna- recognize January as national mentoring month. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Coast is just one organization locally that works to pair youth with mentors.

B.B.B.S.  was recognized when both the Arcata and Eureka City Councils proclaimed the first month of 2020 National Mentoring Month and Fortuna is doing the same at their meeting next week.

So what exactly is National Mentoring Month?

It’s a month long campaign to bring awareness to the work that mentors do in our local communities- and also a way to encourage people to get involved in mentoring.

Friday is also International Mentoring Da and you can share your mentoring stories on social media using the #MentoringMonth or #ThankYourMentor.
