Work underway for tree Removal along Eureka-Arcata Corridor

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – Work is underway on the Arcata-Eureka corridor for tree removal. Motorists on Southbound Highway 101 can expect delays.

On Tuesday, one lane was closed as work will be conducted on weekdays from 9 am in the morning until 2 pm and on weekends from 7 am to 5 pm.

The closure is to accommodate crews working on removing invasive eucalyptus trees. 38 trees will be removed and 179 will be pruned due to safety concerns. Cyclists are still able to go along the bike route during the project, but may have also intermittent stoppages.

Caltrans would like to remind everyone to proceed with caution through the work zone.
