State Route 96 remains closed near Happy Camp

HAPPY CAMP, Ca. (KIEM)- Winter storms affected the North Coast last week, and the impacts are continuing to last.

State Route 96 in Siskiyou County remains closed a week after a rock slide.

The road remains closed at the slide site roughly 4 miles west of Happy Camp.

With the recent storms, the overloaded area extending across the roadway now has added snowfall and debris.

Crews are working to move the material off the roadway and will continue to monitor slide activity.

Caltrans will reopen the 96 when it has been deemed safe.
