Eureka’s Own, Sara Bareilles Snags her 1st Grammy Award

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – Eureka’s own, Sara Bareilles won her first Grammy award last night.

With 8 Grammy nominations already under her belt, the singer-songwriter won for Best American Roots Performance for her song “Saint Honesty” from her new album, Amidst the Chaos.

Bareilles has always loved music and earned mainstream success after her musical hit “love song” rose to number 4 on the billboard hot 100.

Bareilles has sold over one million albums and over nine million singles in the U.S. alone along with one album of the year nomination for the blessed unrest

Growing up, Sara attended eureka high school, singing in the school choir and taking part in Community Theater.

Sara attended UCLA with a major in Communications, however, her desire to write and sing songs drove her to join the au Capella group and sing music wherever she could.

Sara is the youngest of three daughters, and growing up the girls would perform together and entertain their family all the time from the songs they sang to the commercials they starred in.

A 10-year overnight sensation, her mother says it was a long time coming and so well deserved.

A remarkable woman with so much talent. Bareilles has never let the fame go to her head and has remained beautifully gracious, humble and kind through all her successes.

There’s no doubt the sky’s the limit for Sara, and an inspirational reminder to all of us striving for something more to never quit your daydream.
