Governor Newsom Responds to Supreme Court Ruling on Immigrant Restrictions

SACRAMENTO, Ca. (KIEM) – The United States Supreme Court issued an order today to temporarily allow a Trump administration’s rule.

The rule would deny immigrants legal status in the U.S. if they rely too heavily on public benefits like food stamps, Medicaid, and housing subsidies.

California Governor Gavin Newsom made a statement today saying that the State of California will “continue to fight against these efforts to terrorize immigrant families”.

Newsom’s 2020-21 budget proposal includes $75 million dollars to support non-profit organization that support immigrants.
