Arcata, Ca. (KIEM)– One Arcata couple has a new member to their family, all thanks to the power of social media.
On January 17th, Emily and Dante Wood were scrolling through Facebook when they came upon a picture of Mocha, a 7-month-old mix looking for her forever home.
Across the country in Georgia, mocha was found in a sewer pipe by Alexia Johannes, who happens to bring dogs in and adopt them out through the use of social media.
On a whim, they reached out to Alexia to see if they could add mocha to their family.
After making sure she was up to date on her shots, got written approval from a veterinarian, found a pet shipping service, and booking the flight, the hard part was behind them.
Fast forward two weeks later, Mocha is home with her new family and adjusting to what her life will be like with her sister Mochi.
