EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – A four-legged member of the Humboldt Bay Fire family is recovering after undergoing surgery in Southern Oregon.
Cali the fire dog underwent successful surgery yesterday at the Southern Oregon veterinary specialty center in Medford.
They removed a tumor from Cali’s pancreas and her liver during the two-hour procedure.
Cali helps the department with teaching fire safety and prevention to community school children. She’s been with the department since 2011.
Over the last 24 hours, more than 9 thousand dollars has been raised for Cali’s treatment. This afternoon, a woman went down to the main station and donated two-thousand dollars.
