Suspicious object closes section of Humboldt Hill Road

HUMBOLDT HILL, Ca (KIEM)-A section of Humboldt Hill Road was closed for several hours Friday morning after a suspicious object was found on the side of the road.

At around 9:30, a citizen contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office for a report of a suspicious device that was located on the 7000 block of Humboldt Hill Road. Deputies and Humboldt Bay Fire both responded to the scene.

Using the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team robot, the device was determined to be several small fireworks that were taped together.

Residents were advised to stay indoors until the area was deemed safe. The roadway was re-opened at around noon.
