Intoxicated Garberville Man Attempts to Commit Suicide, Taken into Custody

GARBERVILLE, Ca. (KIEM) – Just after 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning the Garberville CHP encountered a pedestrian sitting on the bridge railing over the Eel River just north of Confusion Hill.

The individual who was extremely intoxicated and determined he was preparing to commit suicide by jumping from the bridge railing.

The officers were able to talk him down from the railing. 

He started acting erratic and became uncooperative, moving toward the bridge railing again.

Officers were able to take him to the ground and place him in custody. 

The male was transported to Ukiah Valley Medical Center where he was turned over to Mendocino County Mental Health for an evaluation.  No injuries were sustained
