California Water Use Public Hearing with Governor Gavin Newsom Scheduled for March

North Coast, Ca. (KIEM) – A hearing in Redding will be held to discuss Governor Gavin Newsom’s water proposal.

Two weeks ago rural Northern California residents, Tribal members, and Hoopa High School water protector club members went to Sacramento to ask the State of California to schedule the meeting.

They are concerned about the delta conveyance project, which would divert up to twenty-two percent more water from the Bay Delta and California rivers.

The fishery dependent communities worry that the governor will side with the trump administration’s environmental rollbacks and cause damage to the economy and food security of Northern California.

The hearing will be held on March 2nd in Redding at the Sheraton Hotel on Sundial Bridge Drive.
