Humboldt County Recognized for Recent PR Campaign

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Visitor’s Bureau is honored for their work on a recent PR campaign.

The poppy award is given out by Visit California and honors tourism destinations across the state for excellence in tourism marketing.

HCVB is the winner for the best destinations public relations campaign for its operation Bigfoot project, which reached 11 million people and generated roughly $1 million in revenue.  The campaign featured Bigfoot across major media outlets and social media platforms.

We spoke with Richard Stenger, who crafted the campaign, and Bigfoot about how they hope this encourages more people to visit Humboldt County.

Skateboard legend, Tony Hawk, who recently donated money for a skate park in McKinleyville, was also recognized and received the California Dreamer Award.
