Fire Breaks Out at Same Eureka Home as Tuesday Night’s Homicide

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — An early morning structure fire breaks out at the same Eureka home where a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Tuesday night.

Humboldt Bay Fire responded to the 21-hundred block of Union Street around 6:30 Wednesday morning. When crews arrived on scene, smoke could be seen coming from the back of the building.

A small fire was discovered in the living room area. There were hoarding conditions with lots of debris inside of the home. Crews quickly extinguished the flames. No one was home at the time and no injuries have been reported.

HBF says that Wednesday morning’s fire and Tuesday night’s homicide are being treated as separate incidents. According to Police Chief Steve Watson who was on scene, it’s too early to tell if there is any connection between the two incidents.
