Felon Arrested in Orleans after High Speed Chase

ORLEANS, Ca. (KIEM) – A man is arrested on firearms charges near Orleans after leading deputies on a high speed pursuit.

On Friday at around 11 p-m, Humboldt County Sheriffs on Highway 96 near Orleans attempted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. The suspect fled at a high rate of speed… Deputies lost sight of the vehicle and continued onto red cap road where they found the suspect’s vehicle partially over an embankment.

41-year-old Ulysses McLaughlin and a child were in the vehicle and were uninjured.

Deputies found three loaded firearm magazines and loose ammunition. There were two loaded firearms outside the vehicle.

McLaughlin was arrested and booked on charges of a felon in possession  of a firearm with ammunition, possession of a magazine, and child endangerment.
