Motorcycle Collides with Pickup Truck Causing Injuries

Eureka, CA (KIEM) – A motorcyclist is recovering in the hospital after colliding with a pickup truck.

The crash happened on Broadway near Hawthorne Street Wednesday night.  

Emergency personnel shut down one of two north bound lanes as first responders treated the injured man.

Sgt. Ed Wilson says police were dispatched to the crash before 7 p.m.

Wilson says the motorcyclist mistakenly misjudged the distance of the pickup in front of him, and hit the back of the pickup.

He suffered mild to moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The speed limit on Broadway is 40 mph.

Both motorists were most likely traveling at about those speeds, according to Wilson. The man on the motorcycle is expected to be OK.
