Burglary suspect caught in the act

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM)-Thanks to quick action by Eureka Police, a burglary suspect was caught in the act.

Police responded to the 900 block of Dowler Drive at 9 am Monday after a woman reported an unknown man attempting to open her front door and then entering her neighbor’s garage.

As officers were setting up a perimeter, an alarm went off inside the house. Officers then heard breaking glass and saw 32-year-old Christopher Blount flee from the back of the residence and into the greenbelt where he was taken into custody.

According to the EPD, it appeared Blount broke into three residences.

After being treated for injuries at the hospital, Blount was booked into jail on three counts of burglary, resisting arrest, and probation violation.
