School Closures Prompt Concerns Over Standardized Testing

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — Schools across the country, and here on the North Coast, remain closed raising concerns over what this means for students and standardized testing. This time of year, many students are usually focusing on getting ready for college and taking the SAT or ACT tests.

For now, the next round of testing has been canceled. The College Board, the governing body that administers the test, has not released a statement on the next steps. Another concern? Advanced placement testing.

There will be some accommodations made for students who are unable to take the test. More information on what exactly those accommodations are will be released at a later date.

Eureka City Schools is working to help students navigate this difficult time and will continue to update parents on the latest Covid-19 information via their automatic calling system.
