Yurok Tribe Implements Closures Due to Covid-19

DEL NORTE, Ca. (KIEM) – The Yurok Tribe has implemented closures of tribal lands to all non-residents due to covid-19.

The decision was made due to recommendations by the centers for disease control and prevention and the Yurok office of emergency services.

The closures do comply with the Yurok tribe’s emergency declaration issued March 13 and includes parks, preserves, beaches and boat launches, as well as all camping and overnight stays.

The Yurok tribe community is encouraged to stay local, practice social distancing and limit essential purchases to once a week.

The public will be notified with any updates on a tentative re-open date.
