Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — More on the impact of the global coronavirus pandemic back here at home. Humboldt County has confirmed 3 new cases of Covid-19 bringing the total to 5 confirmed cases.

Stay home. That is the message from Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal following 3 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 on the North Coast, and that number is expected to grow.

Two of the confirmed cases traveled internationally, but not to a country flagged as high risk. Three United flights have been flagged for potential exposure because either someone on board tested positive or a close contact whose test is pending on board. A multi-state investigation is now underway to identify close contacts.

Recent cases are the first instance of positive test results being reported by a commercial lab, and not the public health lab. Moving forward, DHHS will now be integrating commercial testing results in their daily public laboratory reports.
