Eureka shelter under quarantine, no new clients accepted

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM)-A mandate surrounding the shelter in place order has caused many businesses to alter their daily operations including a local women, children and men’s shelter.

The Eureka Rescue mission officially closed and quarantined their shelter March 19^th to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

They will re-evaluate the possibility to reopen sometime in April.

In the mean time they are following the direction of state and local officials.

All who have come inside are encouraged to stay inside according to Executive Director Bryan Hall Sr.

The mission is not accepting new clients unless authorized by health officials or the Eureka police C-SET team.

There are currently more than 100 men inside their shelter and more than 40 women and children inside the women and children’s shelter.

The non-profit has taken a huge financial blow due to their thrift store closure.

The thrift store brings in the majority of the Rescue Mission’s funding.

They say they can use any donations the community can give, whether in the form of food, clothing, blankets or monetary gifts.
