Meeting Scheduled Monday for Eviction Moratorium

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM)– In a special meeting Monday the Eureka City Council will consider an eviction moratorium for residents.

Governor Newsom recently issued an executive order to protect residents from loss of hours, wages, or layoffs from Covid-19.

With possible evictions and families moving in with one another to potentially spread the virus the moratorium is deemed necessary to avoid homelessness and unnecessary displacement.

The eviction moratorium will be in effect until May 31st.

The meeting begins at four in the afternoon. Council Members will meet through zoom and will be broadcast on the city’s website.
