Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM)- Local women are partnering up restaurants here on the North Coast to extend a helping hand to medical personnel who are in the fight to help beat Covid-19.

In just a short time, a group of local women have formed Feed the E.R. They’ve already received many donations from the community and business, all of which they have used to pay local food restaurants. The food is then picked up and delivered to the area hospitals.

With many parents taking on the roles of teaching their children while schools are closed, that’s not stopping these moms from taking on yet other duties to help the community.

Many businesses have been hit hard during the Corona outbreak. but they too have bridged arms with the women to make a stronger north coast. A local barbecue manager had no hesitation to help when the organization reached out for assistance. Ana Vainnuku is the Manager at Sammy’s Barbecue and was more than happy to donate food to hospitals workers because her mother was a worker at a hospital.

The women delivered food to both St. Joseph’s, and Mad River Community Hospital. McDonald’s even provided breakfast. If you live on the North Coast, then most likely you know someone who works at one of the local hospitals.

These dedicated women and businesses are just getting started and want to make sure that all the workers in the ER get fed. They are thankful for everything they do and this is just one way of saying thank you.

Umpqua Bank is currently setting up an account for residents. For more information, you can go to the Feed the E.R. Facebook page, and if you would like to donate to their Venmo or Paypal it is FeedtheER@gmail.com.
