Arcata Police Department reduces in person property crime investigations

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM) – The Arcata Police Department has made temporary modifications in its daily protocol procedures.

Shortly after the Humboldt County shelter-in-place order, APD suspended all live scans and moved to online or telephone services only.

And they have now suspended in person property crime investigations to reduce face to face contact. There will still be investigations on all incidents but APD will only do so over the phone or online.

Since the shelter-in-place order was enacted, Arcata has seen a 34% reduction in incidents. APD wants to ensure the community that they will still report to crimes of potential violence.
