COVID 19 and Evictions

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – Many residents are having trouble paying their bills due to the shelter in place order. The Governor has issued a mandate that puts a temporary stop to eviction proceedings through the end of May. Renters should contact their landlords if there are having any issues and to come up with a payment plan in advance.  All missed rental payment amounts will still need to be paid in 180 days after the shelter in place mandate is lifted. We spoke with a local property manager Elizabeth Campbell- Chase of Pacific Coast Rental and Real Estate and she said her company is there to provide a place for their tenants to and to take care of them but communication is key.
