Local blood drive hosted by state senator McGuire

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM) – Due to COVID-19 and health-related issues, the Northern California Community Blood Bank has recently seen a large shortage in blood.

The center reached out to the community and state officials resulting in a blood drive hosted by Senator Mike McGuire and Assemblyman Jim Wood.

Dozens of donors entered the doors of the donation center today and after being extremely low on blood a few weeks ago, the center now plans to have more than enough blood for local patients.

And, extra precautions are being taken before donors enter the center. Hand sanitizer and wipes sit outside of the front door where workers are taking temperatures before entry.
