Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — The shelter in place order was set to expire this week, but as the number of cases continues to grow its intent remains the same, to slow the spread of the virus.

Most people will only experience mild symptoms. Public Health recommends that if you have a fever or are feeling sick to stay home until your fever has subsided for 3 days, your symptoms are clearly improving, and it’s been a week since the onset of your symptoms.

When is it time to go see a doctor? When you feel like symptoms are more severe or feel the need for medical evaluation.

As far as testing, more than 1,000 tests have been administered so far. Public Health understands that more can be done. Ideally would like to test every single person, but that’s not possible. It’s not an issue of capacity, but the need for additional technology.

DHHS will continue to release testing results Monday through Saturday.
