Felon Arrested on Stolen Vehicle and Gun Charges

MCKINLEYVILLE, Ca. (KIEM)- A felon in a stolen vehicle is arrested after he leads law enforcement on a chase and crashes in McKnleyville.

at around seven p.m. Wednesday, an off duty Eureka Police Officer located  a stolen vehicle on the 14-hundred block of School Avenue.

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene and tried to detain the driver identified as 27 year-old Little Eagle Moon. the Sheriff’s Office said he fled and after a short pursuit collided with another vehicle on central avenue. Moon tried to get away on foot but was  taken into custody.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies say they found a loaded firearm,  ammunition and a police scanner.

Moon was taken to the hospital for treatment and then booked on multiple felony charges. They  include possession of a firearm, vehicle theft,  the sale of ammo to a minor and driving on a suspended license.
