Mad River Community Hospital employees furloughed

ARCATA, Ca (KIEM)-Mad River Community Hospital in Arcata is enacting a furlough program to match the decreased volume of patients they are receiving.

There has been a 40 to 70 percent decrease in the emergency department, surgery, imaging, laboratory, outpatient, and administrative support since the shelter in place order began.

Employees are not laid off, but are temporarily furloughed until further notice due to the covid-19 outbreak.

According to the hospital, this action is consistent with the actions of the majority of hospitals that are not currently in a Covid-19 patient surge situation.
