No bail rule results in release of 10 Humboldt County inmates

EUREKA, CA (KIEM) – With the no-bail rule now in place, the Humboldt County Correctional Facility has released 10 inmates as of this afternoon.

At the state level, judicial counseling made the rule that they would reduce bail to zero on several offenses including misdemeanors and low lying felonies.

The Sheriff’s Office has already examined their list of inmates in relation to their risk assessment and they believe they do not need to reduce their numbers any more than they already have.

Sheriff William Honsal believes the extra precautions being taken are above and beyond what is necessary but acknowledges the mitigating factors that take part in these decisions.
