Non-profit launches their 1st National support hotline, amid Covid-19

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM)-A non-profit organization known for their philanthropic efforts is rolling out a crisis hotline for those impacted by the Covid-19 crisis.

The Salvation Army launched its first nationwide hotline to provide emotional and spiritual support.

Those seeking spiritual guidance, local services or just someone to talk to can call 1-844-458-HOPE.

The Salvation Army Officers, who are pastors and emotional-care personnel, will be on the other end, to give advice or just listen.

As a result of Covid-19 the organization has expanded its efforts to meet the demand.

They are now focused on providing food, shelter, rent and utility assistance, shelter for the homeless, child activity kits and online worship and bible study services.

Covid-19 has drastically increased requests for services and are asking for ongoing public support to ensure no one is turned away or overlooked.

Public Relations Director Sam Jorosz says this will pass, but in the meantime The Salvation Army is always available to help.

“This is the fourth week of California “stay-at-home order”, four weeks is a long time for people self isolates at home a lot of people they live alone, they don’t have anybody to talk to.

“The Salvation Army’s mission is to meet human needs without discrimination.

“And we’re not going to let anything, not even a global pandemic stop us from reaching out to help those who are in most need.

“That’s why this national hotline is so important, it lets people know that there is somebody out there that really does care.

“We’re all in this together and that is how we’re going to get through this,” Jorosz said.

Staff speak both English and Spanish and are available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. everyday.

The number is 1-844-458-4673, those who call after hours are encouraged to leave a voicemail.
