Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — Law enforcement operations look a little different for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office amid Covid-19.

Deputies are limiting face-to-face interactions with the public by utilizing their phone and online reporting systems more often. They’re also asking people to come outside to speak with them instead of deputies going inside of a residence. Of course, officers are wearing personal protective equipment, but getting those much needed masks hasn’t been an easy task.

In the coming weeks, resident can expect for things to slowly start opening back up. Despite being almost 2 months into the local shelter in place order, HCSO is still concerned about what will happen when restrictions are fully lifted and the consequences if done too soon. The process needs to be gradual and planned out.

Sheriff Honsal wants to remind residents we’re not out of the woods just yet.
