Ferndale man cited for illegal cannabis site, environmental violations

FERNDALE, Ca (KIEM)-A Ferndale man is cited after an illegal cannabis grow site is located with over 2,600 plants.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office served a search warrant Monday on the 2900 block of Mattole Road. The site was under investigation for not possessing the required county permit and state license to commercially cultivate cannabis.

Deputies eradicated the marijuana plants and destroyed over 83 pounds of cannabis shake.

Assisting agencies found multiple violations at the site including one stream diversion obstruction violation, one water pollution violation, and two violations for dumping trash in or nearby a waterway.

60-year old Jeffrey Scott chase was cited and released on charges of cannabis cultivation violations resulting in a violation of fish and game code, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
