Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — Eureka Mayor Susan Seaman is addressing the local business community, which has been heavily impacted due to covid-19. In her weekly PSA, she wants people to know help is on the way.

Through the small business loan program and other bridge loans, more than 95 million dollars has been brought into the local community. That only includes numbers specific for Humboldt County and doesn’t account for loans from bigger, out of the area banks.

Mayor Susan Seaman emphasizes the importance of essential workers and their role in getting things back to normal. She acknowledges that being an essential worker has its own challenges, like childcare. Changing tides is one local resource and is dedicated to making sure workers are able to access the childcare they need during this stressful time.

Despite the shelter in place order, Mayor Susan Seaman and the Eureka City Council will be meeting virtually Tuesday night for their monthly meeting at 6 pm.
