Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — Humboldt County is slowly heading into phase 2 of re-opening businesses amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The road ahead is still unclear and needs to be approached with caution. A sentiment shared by county health officer Dr. Frankovich. While most retail businesses are set to re-open, it won’t be happening all at once. It will be gradual and based on who has a lower risk of covid-19 exposure.

Law enforcement will be out ensuring that places are following the new guidelines. There is a tip line through the joint information center people can contact if the wish to report someone not in compliance. According to sheriff honsal, emphasis is on education, but people can still face a citation or fine.

Ultimately, the success of phase 2 locally will have a major impact on when the county can transition into phase 3 and continue moving forward.
